KAUNG MYAT also involves itself, in co-operation with relevant
authorities, in preventing the forest from being depleted. One
of the ways to prevent forest depletion is to seek on-
alternative for fire-wood . This company now co-operates with
the Ministry of
Forests in running a small coal mine in Sagaing Division This
small mine now produces about 10,000 tons of coal annually and
we envisage the production to increase in the future.
Golf is gaining popularity in Myanmar and most of the towns
and cities have golf courses So widespread has this form of
sports become that local and international tournaments are
being held yearly.
Timber is one of the main exports of Myanmar and the KAUNG MYAT
is directly involved in it. We co-operate with the Myanmar
Timber Enterprise in log extraction and export of teak ,
pyinkado and other famous timber species We are extracting
annually about 40,000 and able to export annually about 20,000
tons of pyinkado , a superior species of hard wood.
